after the big party weekend!

Things are going well....I'm down 8 lbs now, so that's over 25% of my goal reached! I probably would be down more, but this past weekend we took 16 family members and friends on a 5 day fishing trip to Barkley Sound to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. I tried to stick to the the 5-hour rule, but I also drank a lot of beer and ate a fair bit of cheezies while bobbing around in the boat. What the heck...

Anyways, I gained 2 lbs back after that, but it only took 3 days to get it off again. I am finally not hungry anymore between meals, and I still feel great. The only thing that is bugging me is all of the sesame seeds I have to eat...they get stuck in my teeth, so I'm constantly flossing!! Oh well, good dental care is a side benefit I guess!

will chat back with you on the weekend...I am hoping to be down a full 10 lbs by then.

Cheers

got my plan and getting started

Ok, so it has been a little over a week now since I had my blood work done, and I just received my plan yesterday. While I was waiting for it this past week, I still tried to follow the concepts, even though I didn't have an "official" customized plan for me yet. I ate all my meals with 5 hour breaks, no snacks, no booze, LOTS of water (like over 2 litres a day), no refined carbs or sugar (so no pasta or bread, only wild rice). The net result? I feel "un-polluted", way less bloated, sleep like a baby (even without my cherry juice sleep concoction) and much, much more clear headed. I did feel a little headache-ish, but I wasn't hungry at all. The best part is that I lost 4 lbs. just by doing that!!!

Ok, so now I have my plan, and last night I ate:

120 g chopped chicken
155 g raw veggies .....broccoli, cauli, cherry tomatoes
a few handfuls of salad greens
Dressing made with chopped garlic, mustard powder, 1 Tbsp Olive Oil, 1 tsp Balsamic Vinegar.

This was a HUGE salad....covered my whole dinner plate, and I could hardly finish it.

So for breaky this morning....

175 g plain yogurt
100 g raspberries
2 TBSP ground flaxseed
2 TBSP pumpkin seeds
2 TBSP sunflower seeds
( you eat a lot of seeds on this plan, and I'm also supposed to add 2 TBSP sesame seeds, but I have bought any yet)

Again....HUGE bowl for breakfast and I can hardly eat it all. I also had 2 cups of coffee sweetened with 1/2 tsp of Xylitol, and no cream....and I am now full. So because I finished at 7:30 am, I now must wait 5 hours before I can eat again...so 12:30.

Tonight is my first big challenge.....it is my Grandma's 95th birthday party and I have to get through the big family gathering without drinking beer or wine! Yikes!!! We'll see...I might not feel to good if I do, so maybe that will keep me on track!

I would consider myself to be a typical Canadian mom. I'm 46, have two teenage boys ages 15 and 17, work with my husband in his business and look after kids, house, yard, transportation, bills, food, pets, recreation...you name it. And like many moms, I have been so busy looking after everything else that I have neglected to look after myself.

About 5 years ago, I became really run down and ended up with one of those chronic pain/fatigue syndromes that caused me to give up my stressful teaching job and stay home to look after the business. My husband is a VERY hard worker (won't say the "w....aholic" word, but you get the picture) and things were fairly chaotic around here. While I enjoyed being relieved of the stress of my job, I was still feeling really lousy. I tried exercising and being super strict and clean about what I ate, and while that helped me cope better, I was still not recovering from my illness. I was on tons of medications, and gaining an average of 7 pounds a year.

This past January I really crashed. I had just come through a stressful time with my son being in hospital, Christmas and excessive snow. I really felt like I was losing it! So I became deterimined to pursue good health as my New Year's resolution. I weaned myself off of all medication, cleaned up my eating even more, and began a regimine of cross-country skiing, yoga, and supplements including fish oil, and an amazing immune system booster called Immunocal to support my immune system and detox my body. Gradually, I began to feel a lot better......like ALOT better!!! The Immunocal was the biggest thing that helped me, especially clearing up my foggy brain and relieving my anxiety. But still, there was the extra weight!

So, now that I feel so much better, I need to get this weight off!! I have done everything that the "experts" say you should do....eat smaller meals, eat a balanced diet, no empty calories, exercise everyday, lots of veggies, no red meat .....ad nauseum!!! But I have not lost a single pound!!

Yesterday, I drove 2 hours to go to an info session at a SureSlim clinic in Victoria, BC. I plunked down my $795 and this morning I went and had my blood test.....you've seen the ads? It's not you, it's your metabolism. Well, I listened to the lady, what she said made sense and I'm ready to give it my all....I've already changed so much about my lifestyle, this is one more really important thing that I have to do for myself. So, read along and follow my journey!

I'm not embarrassed to say that right now I weigh 175 lbs and I am 5'5" tall. My goal is 145 lbs, so I need to lose 30 lbs to reach that. I'm doin' it!!!!
